Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is a fantasy novel composed by British creator J. K. Rowling. The first novel in the Harry Potter series and Rowling’s introduction novel, it follows Harry Potter, a youthful wizard who discovers his otherworldly legacy on his eleventh birthday celebration, when he receives a letter of acknowledgment to Hogwarts School of Black magic and Wizardry. Harry makes close friends and a couple of enemies amid his first year at the school, and with the assistance of his friends, Harry faces an endeavored rebound by the dim wizard Master Voldemort, who killed Harry’s parents, however, neglected to kill Harry when he was just 15 months old.

The book was first published in the Assembled Kingdom in 1997 by Bloomsbury. It was published in the US the next year by Scholastic Enterprise under the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It won most of the British book awards that were made a decision by youngsters and other awards in the US. The book achieved the highest point of the New York Times list of best-selling fiction in August 1999 and stayed close to the highest priority on that list for quite a bit of 1999 and 2000. It has been translated into somewhere around 73 other languages and has been made into a full-length film of the same name, as have each of the six of its sequels.
